AnOntario poker A player has successfully secured a spot among the final nine competitors in the renowned World Series of Poker Main Event, positioning themselves for a guaranteed seven-figure payout.

Hailing from Niagara Falls, Ontario, Jason Sagle is the sole Canadian among the top ten finishers. The WSOP Main Event, taking place at the Horseshoe in Las Vegas, will have its next round on Tuesday, July 16, after a break on Monday for the players.

Sagle, often recognized by his Toronto Blue Jays cap, enters the final two days of the tournament with a massive stack of 67.3 million chips. This achievement guarantees him a payout of at least $1 million USD, marking the largest cash prize of his tournament career.

Journey of an Ontario Poker Player to the Main Event

He is likely to elevate his position into the top 40, or even higher. The champion of the tournament will walk away with no less than $10 million. As he sits at the final table of the Main Event, Sagle's chips place him in fifth position, while American player Jordan Griff leads with an impressive 143.7 million chips heading into Tuesday.

Sagle mentioned that he began his poker journey back in 1995, long before theWorld Series of Poker Ontario online site was an option for players.

Kristen Foxen Achieves Highest Female Ranking

Another competitor from Ontario, Kristen Foxen, narrowly missed the final table of the WSOP Main Event, finishing in 13th place and earning a substantial $600,000 prize. She was the last woman remaining in the tournament.

Originally from St. Catharines, Foxen has accumulated over $7.7 million in her poker career. Her recent $600,000 win in the Main Event is her largest single payout to date as per Hendon Mob, though she's had numerous six-figure scorelines throughout her career.

Other Canadians who achieved top 100 finishes at the 2024 WSOP include: Jason James in 14th place, Garrett Bok in 35th, Robert Renaud in 41st, and Randy Gattesco in 54th.
