On Tuesday, March 18, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) and the Belleville city council disclosed the total gaming revenue that the city received from the provincial agency.
With a community of around 55,000 residents, Belleville earned over $3.5 million in gaming revenue in the last fiscal year that wrapped up on March 31, 2024. The province allocates a share of its gambling earnings to municipalities that accommodate gaming venues. Belleville is home to Shorelines Casino, which opened its doors on January 11, 2017, over eight years ago. Since 2018, this city has received upwards of $21.5 million.
"It's fantastic that we can highlight the exceptional collaboration we have with OLG at this event each year,\" stated Mayor Neil Ellis of Belleville in a recent press release. \"The Municipality Contribution Agreement offers significant benefits to our community, many of which residents may not realize. This past event allowed us to showcase the key organizations that are aided by this partnership and acknowledge their valuable contributions, as well as express our heartfelt thanks to OLG.\"
