Grand River Raceway Kicks Off Its 20th Season of Betting in Ontario

This Friday marks the beginning of the 20th racing season at Grand River Raceway, featuring standardbred harness races.

From June 2 to September 27, this Elora, Ontario racetrack will host 48 nights of racing, which includes 18 events specifically for the Ontario Sire Stake (OSS) series. Only horses bred and raised in Ontario will participate in these OSS events.

Grand River Raceway Schedule

Racing events commence at 6:30 p.m., running every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Each race night typically features between 10 and 12 races.

Situated approximately 115 kilometers west of Toronto, the Grand River Raceway has been hosting harness racing since 2004. As it enters its 20th year, the venue is excited to present more betting options than ever.

Alongside traditional wagers — win (betting on a horse to secure first place), place (betting on a horse for either first or second), and show (betting on a horse to finish in the top three) — Grand River Raceway has introduced various exotic bets to engage fans throughout the night. This year brings a new feature as Grand River Raceway introduces a second Pick 5 option starting at Race 6, along with an additional Pick 3 that tracks the last three races of the evening.

The Grand Betting Contest occurs every Monday and Friday. Players choose a horse in races 2-7 and earn points based on the finishing position of their selections. The Survivor Wednesday challenge tests participants on how many consecutive winners they can choose during Wednesday’s race night.
