TheScore Bet has announced its decision to cease its sports betting operations in the United States and concentrate on the Ontario market moving forward.

The major highlight of Wednesday's developments was the declaration thattheScore Bet will be ending its sports betting activities in the U.S. starting July 1.

This strategic realignment aims to effectively utilize the company's resources to strengthen and expand theScore Bet's presence inOntario sports betting as well as in other Canadian provinces while promoting the Barstool Sportsbook brand within the United States.

TheScore media application will maintain its significant involvement in the U.S. landscape as the company is progressing towards merging this app with Barstool Sportsbook, an integration expected to be finalized later this year.Penn National Gaming In 2021, theScore was acquired by Penn National in a deal valued at $2.1 billion, which included cash and stock.

Strong Performance for theScore Bet in Ontario

As previously reported, the analysis of app downloads for Ontario sports betting right after the regulated market openedon April 4 had theScore Bet on top in downloads.

According toa Morgan Stanley report on May 2 revealed that theScore's share soared to 65% on the launch day but dropped to 17-18% by April 30, according to Sensor Tower data.

In 2020, Penn National acquired Barstool Sports for $450 million. Recently, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy visited Toronto to promote theScore Bet and eating pizza .

Already Focusing on Canada

In early April, theScore Bet entered into a partnership with the Toronto Blue Jays,a 10-year partnership .

marking theScore Bet's official status as the gaming partner for the Jays. This was the first time theScore Bet has sponsored a professional team.

The arrangement granted theScore Bet comprehensive marketing rights across various gaming sectors — including sports betting, casino gaming,Ontario online casino and fantasy sports — as outlined in a press release at that time.

The agreement includes plans for creating a branded sports bar and restaurant within Rogers Centre, which is currently undergoing significant renovations.
